A special opportunity to explore Athens’ cultural heritage is offered through the European Heritage Days, taking place from September 25 to 27. The Ministry of Culture is once again participating in the European initiative, giving visitors the chance to discover important museums, archaeological sites and monuments across the city.
On Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, admission will be free to participating public museums, archaeological sites and monuments managed by the Ministry of Culture. In Athens, visitors can take advantage of the occasion to explore some of the city’s most important historical landmarks, including the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, the Roman Agora and Kerameikos, while enjoying a cultural walk through the historic center.
The Acropolis Museum will also welcome visitors free of charge on Sunday, September 27, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Free admission will include the museum’s exhibition galleries as well as the Acropolis Excavation Museum.
Throughout the European Heritage Days, a range of special guided tours, educational activities, presentations and cultural events will also take place at participating venues, offering visitors an opportunity to experience Athens’ rich heritage from a different perspective.
